During the holy month of Ramadan, Community Relief UK raised £66,123.04 of which £39,312.00 was zakaat. With this zakaat money we managed to do a food pack distribution in Gaza, Palestine. With the current situation we’re all witnessing, it was only fitting to do some aid work in this region.

Our original plan was to raise enough funds and then head to the Jordanian border in the summer and do food, clothes distributions at the Palestinian camps. However, with the current situation in Iran, we felt it was best to use an organisation already in Gaza and do a distribution as soon as possible.

We got in touch with the iF organisation, who we have worked with previously through Raza / Madina Masjid, where we provided aid worth £18,000, The work they’ve done in Gaza is fantastic and very transparent, which is a moral code we go by. I owe a huge thanks to Abdul from iF, who came and met me in Blackburn. We discussed the current situation in the region and the ways we can help the people of Palestine. We set aside £5,000, from which a minimum of 100 food packs could be made.

Although only a drop in the ocean to what these people deserve, we feel we made huge strides in helping ease a burden on families.

No food or money will ever make up for the suffering the Palestinians have encountered, but it’s our duty to ensure this is the least we do for them.

This is just the first of many distributions we’re hoping to do in the area. We will do regular fundraisers, specifically for Palestine and distribute the funds accordingly.
